Posted by Unknown on 12:13:00 PM in | Comments : 0
The proposed 100,000 bbl per stream day export oriented refinery will be
located at Ibeno in Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria, about two kilometres
from ExxonMobil Oil Terminal, popularly known as Qua Iboe oil terminal
in the world oil market. This terminal will guarantee a steady flow of
crude oil to the refinery.
Presently, it exports about 350,000 barrels per day. With new oil well
discoveries from continental waters, this capacity is expected to increase
to 470,000 bbl per day within a few years.
Apart from the economic and production convenience of a closer supply
source, this location also ensures easy accessibility to the Atlantic
Ocean for the evacuation of finished products to the international market.
The location typifies the coastal shorelines of the Atlantic Ocean in West
Africa with its coastal rain forest, firm grounds and partially water
logged areas.
A 37.10 hectare of land has been secured at Ibeno Local Government
Area of Akwa Ibom State for the first phase of the project. A Certificate
of Occupancy has already been issued by Akwa Ibom State Government
through Akwa Ibom Investment & Industrial Promotion Council
(AKIIPOC).
The local community have expressed strong support and co-operation
for the project. Qua Petroleum Refinery Limited, on its part, has secured
a Memorandum of Understanding with the local community
