Governor's Aide Solicits Loan From CBN.

Hon Armstrong Moses Solicits for Soft Loan from Central Bank of
Nigeria (CBN) for grassroot Farmers in Akwa Ibom State.
Inline with the Agricultural Revolution and Food Sufficiency agenda of
The Governor Udom Emmanuel's Administration, The Special Assistant
to the Governor of Akwa Ibom State on Agricultural Projects Hon
Armstrong Moses has solicited for soft Loan for grassroot Farmers in
Akwa Ibom State through the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Speaking while on inspection visit to a combine group of Akwa Ibom
State Women in Agriculture Ukanafun Chapter and Market women
Frontline Ukanafun Chapter The Hard Working SA said the soft loan
came as a result of his discovery after his visit to hundreds of grassroot
farmers that a little empowerment by way of soft loan could further help
to encourage them to expand their farm businesses and do more.
The SA said that forms for the single digit interest loan are out and free
as it attracts no cost, and has been received by over two thousand
farmers in Akwa Ibom State. He also call on more poultry farmers in the
State as it is the commodity model for the loan to avail themselves of
this opportunity and access the loan facility to aid their poultry
businesses.
In her welcome address the President of Akwa Ibom State Women in
Agriculture Ukanafun chapter Mrs Uduakobong Johnson Umoffong
thanked the Governor's for coming to Ukanafun to visit the women, she
also presented the two leading women groups in the area and their
leaders to the SA.
Also Speaking while receiving the Governor's Aide a woman leader in the
area Pastor Mrs Victoria Imoh who is a member of Ukanafun Local
Government Transitional Council thanked the Governor's Aide for visiting
the two women groups to encourage them, she said that over the years
they have been praying and expecting support and encouragement from
Government Agencies and they see the SA's visit as an answer to their
prayers
.
The woman leader said that there are so many poultry famers in
Ukanafun who practice the trade locally stressing that their members
travel as far as Abak to buy day old chicks for about #14000 per carton,
he begged government and its Agency to establish a day old Chicken
Depot and a feed mill at Ukanafun to alleviate the sufferings of the
grassroot poultry farmers in Ukanafun Local Government Area.
In response, The Governor's Aide said that prior to the present
Administration Poultry Farmers used to travel as far as Ibadan in Oyo
State to buy day old chicks from the hatchery there but the Story has
just changed as Governor Udom Emmanuel has commissioned a
Hatchery at Mbiaya Uran in Uruan Local Government Area.
The SA called on wealthy citizens of Akwa Ibom to see the grassroot
poultry farmers request as business and move in to invest in the
proposed Day old Chicken depot and feed mills. especially now that
there is a Chicken Hatchery in Akwa Ibom State saying that the Governor
Udom Emmanuel Administration is creating enabling environment for
businesses and investments to excel.
Highlight of the occasion was the tour of grassroot poultry farms at Ikot
Akpa Nkuk community and other villages in Ukanafun Local Government
Area, The SA was impressed on seeing the grassroot farmers display the
local innovative method of breeding chickens using fire from firewood
and lantern to keep the young birds worm.
The Governor's Aide also gave the soft loan forms to the Union Leaders
who also distributed same to their members.
