Akwa Ibom: Low LG Funding, Hon Columba Set To Swim Against The Tide

Hon Itoro Columba exchanges banter with Gov Udom Emmanuel during his swearing in Uyo
The Caretaker Committee Chairman of Ikono Local Government Council, Honourable Itoro Columba has reechoed his passion and commitment in adding value to the lives of the people of Ikono Local Government Area.
The Council boss gave the assurance during an exclusive radio interview on Atlantic 104.5 FM, Uyo. Speaking on “Delivering Effective Leadership at the Grassroot”, Hon Columba emphasized that, his mission in Ikono as the helmsman is to leverage on what had existed before in the local government and add value to it by being creative, innovative and thinking outside the box.

He said, “You can only have service delivery in an economy that is heading down the hill. If you are innovative, if you are creative, if you think outside the box, if you do the same thing in a different way and that’s for me is value addition. We cannot continue to operate the same way we’ve always been operating and think that addition of service, exceptional service and service with a difference will be brought to bear”.
He further stated, “It’s for me to leverage on what I will get to see by the time I take over the affairs of the Local Government and try to add value, to be innovative, try to think outside the box and that is really apt at a time like this”.
He restated the fact that local government funding has been relatively low over the years and stressed the need for the people to live with such reality.
He also thanked the state Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel for accepting the internal recommendations of the stakeholders of Ikono by appointing him the Caretaker Committee Chairman.
