AKWA IBOM TO COMMEMORATE WORLD YOUTH SKILLS DAY 2016 (Live trending of event 15-07-16) Keep a date.





In December18, 2014, The United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution declaring 15 July of every year as World Youth Skills Day.
This Event commemoration flag off was first observed in July 15, 2015 at various centres by different institutions acknowledging the strategic importance to say YES to skill development as a primary means of enabling young people to make a smooth transition to work.
The call for skill awareness was reportedly rooted from the UN Estimates of the Unemployed Youth Global Indices of over 115.3million in 2013; this alarming figure of which lives in Developing Countries becomes a pivotal concern of the United Nations General Assembly proposed by Sri Lanka for world youth skills development.
To demonstrate the charter commitment, World Skills International, Netherlands constantly persuades countries, institutions and government about the importance of investing in Youth Skills Development in line with upcoming Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for 2030, which proposes two (2) goals on Education and Skills for Employment.

In Nigeria, Leadbrand Limited with a few others attended a smooth session to commemorate the World Youth Skills Day, 2015 celebration at the United Nations Information Centre, Lagos, where a motion on Strategic Policy Dialogue Term Sheet was adopted and sent to the Federal Ministry of Education to develop curriculum on compulsory Skills Education in our Pre-Post Primary Schools.
In Akwa Ibom State,the Central Planning Directorate composed of HOA and  Leadbrand Limited in Collaboration with Office of the Special Assistant to the Governor on Student Matters, World Skills International, NGOs and other spirited stakeholders are commemorating the First Akwa Ibom World Youth Skills today with the Theme: Skills Rules the World: Building Sustainable Market Force through Technical Education.



Today’s event package promises to host two sessions with emphasis on student with greater number of skills in the world (UNESCO), to infused in them the dynamics of The Catch Them Young Initiative of the office of Special Assistant on Student Matters, a moment of daring mentorship, motivation, exhibition, talent hunt and discovery of the next world class inventors, scientist, artisans, tradespeople, technologist, at the Government Technical College, Ewet Offot, Uyo by 10am.
The second session of the event shall be at the Cenotaph Ground, Udoudoma Avenue for a free exposition of life inspiring inventions and new market creative vendors by different skills ambassadors by 2pm.


The Event objective is to create awareness for skills development, attracts and opens up market windows, encourages investment / investors for skills as alternative to dwindling oil market price and economic prosperity of Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria.
This call is in constant complement to the dakkada philosophy of His Excellency Deacon Udom Emmanuel policy trust to turn Akwa Ibom in to their right place of greatness, where aspirations and inherent abilities are traded unhindered and dreams totally fulfilled. It is our place of civic responsibility to encourage and contribute meaningful to sustain the efforts of government through this event.
