Another Tragedy in Nsit Ubium LGA, Commissioner Visits Scene



Akwa Ibom Government Expresses concern over plight of Nsit Ubium people
The Commissioner for Works, Akparawa Ephraim Inyang- Eyen on Tuesday visited a cutoff bridge along Nung Obong/ Mbio Ekene -Ede Idim Okpot - Afia Nsit Urua Nko linking Eastwest Road in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area.

The Commissioner who expressed deep concerned about the sufferings, pupils and farmers in the area passed through daily Promised to inform the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel about the situation of life in the environ, asserting that the situation is beyond the remedial intervention he(the Ministry) intended to offer the area.
He promised to reach out to the Governor on their behalf for a lasting solution.
Earlier, the youths leader of Nung Obong, Mr Nathaniel Warrie, who led the Commissioner and entourage from the Ministry of Works to the collapsed bridge, informed the team that the damage occurred on 10th August 2010 (6years) and the community had made a frantic efforts to draw the attention of the state government to the road and the collapsed bridge but to no avail until recently where a good samaritan drew the attention of Government to it through eye/report on Channels TV.
He Commended Governor Udom Emmanuel for appointing good heads and workaholics to serve in his government and thanked the works Commissioner, Mr Ephraim Inyang-Eyen for his prompt response to the plight of the people of Nsit Ubium and its environs.
Our reporter observed that the collapsed bridge was built during Governor Esuene's regime as Military governor of south Eastern state in 1969.
