The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has again blasted the wife of
the President, Aisha Buhari, for her failure to travel to the United
States of America, USA, to prove her innocence in the much talked about
Halliburton Scandal.
Fayose, who spoke to Post-Nigeria in an exclusive interview on Thursday,
June 30, through his Special Assistant on Media and Communication, Lere
Olanyika, mocked the President’s wife for travelling to Saudi Arabia,
instead of the US, as earlier threatened.
“We learnt that Aisha Buhari is billed to travel to the United States,
for the First Lady Conference . As I speak, she is in Saudi Arabia. When
has Saudi Arabia metamorphosed to USA? It is a shame. We were expecting
her to travel to the US, to prove to us that she is free from the
Halliburton scandal,’’ Olayinka stated.
Recall, that a social media page affiliated with the ruling All
Progressives Congress, APC, had few days ago, affirmed that Aisha
Buhari, would visit the US, on the 30th of June, 2016.
According to the source, she would be visiting the city of Colorado, to attend the World First Ladies Conference.
There have been speculations that her visit to the US, might lead to her arrest by security operatives in America.
Fayose, had dared the President’s wife to travel to the US, if she was innocent.
Earlier, the President’s wife had given Fayose a five-day ultimatum, for
him to apologise for linking her to the American Congressman, William
Jefferson’s bribery scandal, of which the US lawmaker was convicted in
2009.
The five-day ultimatum which the president’s wife issued to the Governor, demanding an apology, expired on Wednesday, June 29.
The Media Director in the Office of the Wife of the President, Zakari
Nadabo, had told Daily Trust on the telephone, last night, that the
office had not received any communication from the Governor as at 7.00
pm on Wednesday.
Mrs Buhari, through her lawyers, Ismaila Alasa and Mary Ekpere, had
described Fasoye’s allegation as, “very wild and unfounded”, as well as
threatened to drag the Governor to court, if the statement was not
retracted within five working days.
In response, Lere said; “We owe nobody apology for the allegation. They
can go ahead to institute court action against Fayose. But one thing is
clear; Aisha Buhari does not have the liver to step into the United
States. If she dares it, I am assuring you, she will be whisked away.
