WALGON: Bringing Succor To Akwa Ibom Women - Chairperson

The Chairperson, Wives of Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (WALGON), Akwa Ibom State Chapter, Mrs Bright Archibong has reassured Akwa Ibom women on its mandate of bringing succour to the women at the grassroot level.
Mrs Archibong gave the assurance while fielding questions from newsmen, shortly after the association paid a courtesy call on the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Dr Glory Edet in Uyo recently.
She said: "We came here today as a group to seek advice from the Commissioner and also to brief her on our programmes and activities which basically includes, visiting orphanages, sensitization campaigns for our teenage girls, women advocacy and support programmes".
She also reechoed the association's readiness to support the wife of the State Governor, Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel in her pet project and also applauded Deacon Udom Emmanuel's giant strides towards making Akwa Ibom State a better place and a choice destination for investors.
"WALGON will continue to key into the pet project of Her Excellency towards improving the welfare of Akwa Ibom women especially at the grassroot level. We will support Her Excellency in every programme and activity".
"We will also give His Excellency every support in achieving his goals and ambitions of making Akwa Ibom State a better place".
"We thank God that, today's outing was a huge success and we want to assure Akwa Ibom women that, WALGON is a dynamic association. We have already hit the ground running and by the end of our tenure, no matter how short it is, we will surely create an impact".
Also speaking, the wife of the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Ikono Local Government Council, Mrs Ekaette Columba expressed satisfaction at the level of work done by the wife of the State Governor in improving on the lives of Akwa Ibom women at the grassroot. She also used the opportunity to assure Ikono women of her readiness to support her husband, Hon Itoro Columba in his programmes, towards bringing solace to Ikono people
