Gov. Udom Seeks FGs' Refund of N140 billion owed Akwa Ibom State

UYO - Akwa Ibom State Government has sought the reimbursement of over N140 billion from the Federal Government expended on the construction of federal roads and other federal infrastructure in the state.

Gov Emmanuel Udom The state governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, said that such funds would be deployed in the construction of more roads and ensure their completion to ease the difficulties people encounter while travelling to Abia State connecting Akwa Ibom and Cross River States. Emmanuel, who bared his mind on the Federal Government’s indebtedness to the state while inspecting the Uyo-Ikot-Ekpene-Aba dual carriage way project undertaken by Julius Berger, also called on the Federal Government to give approval for the road construction to be undertaken under Public-Private-Partnership, PPP, arrangement in view of the fact that the roads are major economic highways into the state. “It is a major economic highway into the entire state.

I have applied to the Federal Government for concession for the road to be completed under Public-Private-Partnership model. “All I am asking from the Federal Government is one word: ‘Approved’ and the roads will  be constructed in no time,” Emmanuel said.
