The
year 2016, seems to be a year of many deaths been recorded in the Nigerian
entertainment industry
Nollywood actor, Master of Ceremony
(MC) and former chairman of the Performing Musicians Employers’ Association of
Nigeria (PMAN), Abuja chapter, Mr Collins Adeyemi has died. It was learnt that
Adeyemi who celebrated his 19th wedding anniversary three weeks ago died on
Wednesday, July 13, in Abuja
Adeyemi was last seen at the 6th Edition of the
prestigious African Achievers Awards, which took place July 8, 2016, at the
International Conference Centre, ICC, Abuja.
A close associate to the deceased,
Nicki Nwadinobi, told DAILY POST that the deceased had been on and off work but
the sickness was not so serious. Late Collins Adeyemi’s friend and co-founder
of the African Achievers Award, Ambassador David James Egwu, said Collin’s
demise was really sad.
He said: “The death of Adeyemi calls for sober
reflection. What really killed Adeyemi remains a mystery to me as we were both
at the Award event together. Unfortunately, before his death, he told me he was
not feeling too well and we did not even know he would make it to the event but
he did; only for me to get a call early this morning that Adeyemi is gone.
Death is so inevitable and sometimes I wonder why we are struggling.
What’s all the struggle for? If someone as
hardworking and persevering like Adeyemi can die untimely, then I wonder?” Also
speaking to one of his childhood friends who didn’t want his name mentioned
said: “I have known Collins since I was 9 years old. We grew up together. He is
an old family friend. I have known him like forever. It is true he slumped and
died. He was at home in his Abuja residence when it happened but before his
wife could get him to the hospital, he was gone. We can’t even ascertain what
led to his death; if it was a mild ailment he had or something else, no one
knows, but the truth is we have all lived our lives and one day we will all
die. That is just as they say there is no evil in the world but there is
nothing un-evil in the world and it comes from different areas. All we need do
is put our trust and hope in God. His death is a very sad one. We are meeting
later in the day to deliberate on the next step.” May his soul rest in peace!
