''We will relocate maritime university'' - Nigerian Navy disclosed

– The naval boss says when fully operational, the Ibusa University would serve both military and civilian public. The security situation in the Niger Delta region may escalate any time soon following plans by the federal government to relocate the Nigerian Maritime University, Okerenkoko in Warri south local council of Delta state to Ibusa in Oshimili north local council of the state. the Niger Delta Avengers had demanded among others for the return of the school to Okerenkoko as part of the peace deal with the federal government. But it appears the federal government does not intend to meet the demands of the militants as the chief of naval staff, Vice Admiral Ibok Ete-Ibas disclosed that plans were in advanced stage to upgrade the Nigerian Navy Secondary School at Ibusa to a maritime university. According to Guardian, the navy chief said the Nigerian Navy Engineering College in Sapele, also in Delta state, was being upgraded as one of the campuses for the proposed university, and will be operated in partnership with a Greek foundation.
