ALGON CONDOLES AKWA UNITED ON ACCIDENT, SALUTES GOV UDOM FOR TIMELY SHOW OF COMPASSION

The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON ), Akwa Ibom State Chapter has condoled the Board and management of Akwa United Football Club, Uyo over the recent fatal accident involving the supporters Club of the Uyo -based side on their way to Port Harcourt where they went to honour a premiership match against Enyimba Football Club of Aba.
In a release signed by the Chairman of ALGON , Hon Frank Archibong and made available to newsmen by the Association's Publicity Secretary, Mr Itoro Columba the Association specifically expressed its heart-felt condolences to the elite football club on the death of one of the supporters of the club.
"We're pained at the death of one of the fans of our darling Akwa United Football Club in the fatal accident. Our hearts go out to the family of the deceased, the Supporters Club, the Board and management of the team on the painful death of that patriotic supporter of our dear club. We wish to assure all those directly or indirectly affected by the painful death of this promising young man that we feel their grieves and are hopeful that the soul of the departed football fan shall find favour in the sight of the Almighty God", the ALGON boss mourned.
The Eket Local Government Council boss also commiserated with those who sustained various degrees of injuries in the crash and wished them quick recovery. He specifically saluted the State Governor, Mr Udom Gabriel Emmanuel on his swift response to the news of the accident involving the supporters. "That the Governor could shelf every other state engagements to travel to see the injured supporters on their hospital beds less than 24 hours after the unfortunate incident, speaks volumes of the milk of human kindness that flows in our sports - loving Governor.
We further hail the Governor for directing the immediate relocation of the injured to a Specialist Hospital for better health care and for electing to foot the hospital bills of all of them. This, for us, is a true mark of a people-centred and compassionate Governor", the ALGON boss concluded. The Local Government Chairmen in the message hoped that rather than weaken the Club, the accident would turbocharge the Federation Cup defending champions to strive harder and garner more valuable points in their remaining matches of the season "That, for us, is the best way the Club can immortalize the departed and console the survivors"
