Much has been said about the members of the supporters club of Akwa Utd who were involved in a ghastly motor accident at Ekparakwa on their way to Port Harcourt to support Akwa Utd against Enyimba of Aba. One of the supporters is reportedly dead as he was taken to the mortuary from the scene of the accident. However it is also a known fact that Akwa United Football club lost the match in which their supporters club lost a life and several others injured, making it a double tragedy for them.
On Sunday 28 August, His Excellency the governor of Akwa Ibom State Deacon Udom Emmanuel visited the victims of the accident in the hospital and made a statement of commitment which will be evident in the payment of the bills throughout their stay in the hospital, he also made provision for some of them with severe cases to be taken to Ibom Specialist Hospital for intensive care.
In the same vain, the association of the local government of Nigeria (ALGON) Akwa Ibom chapter also visited the accident victims to also share in their pains and to further reassure them that they shall never walk alone .
