The superstar says she only does this because she's "British" and has asked audiences to help
Adele is trying to quit swearing after her potty mouth performance at Glastonbury this year. The singer, 28 , was ashamed to discover how many times she had said four letter words at the festival, and has vowed to curb using naughty language on stage.
“I managed to swear 33 times,” she said. “33 times. I mean I’m not a mathematician — I didn’t even pass my exams and that — but that’s like every couple of minutes, swearing, right?
“I’m trying to powder my tongue a little bit and not swear so much.”
Speaking on stage at LA’s Staples Centre, she asked the audience to give her “moral support” in keeping her swearing to a minimum, excusing her bad language by saying: “I’m British.”
She added: “I see lots of mothers here, so forgive me if I do. Just know if I do, I never mean it meanly, all right?
However, she did not manage to maintain her expletive-free speech, as she later asked if any teachers were in the audience, before adding: “Well, f***ing hell, I love teachers — they’re so important in our lives. She followed up the slip up with an apology.
Back in June, she said on stage at Worthy Farm: “Do you know how rock ‘n’ roll I am?
“Not very, but the BBC had to give me a warning about my potty mouth before I went on. I bet Muse didn’t get that.”
Adele has previously been reprimanded by a gig goer for her language, having told a previous crowd: “I got told off by someone sitting at the front who said, ‘Stop swearing.’ I do swear a lot.
