TELEPHONE CONVERSATION WITH SENATOR GODSWILL AKPABIO LAST NIGHT.

PHONE CONVERSATION ( a summary Paraphrased version )
Me: Your Excellency, Good evening.
Akpabio: Good evening my brother.
Me: Where have you been, you are hardly around these days.
Akpabio : I've been travelling back and forth to be with my wife. You know she's been very ill.
Me: How is her health?
Akpabio : Thank you for asking, she's getting better.
Me: We've been reading stories online about the cause of madam's illness, I contacted your people to come up with a position regarding these stories. What is really happening?
Akpabio : My brother, I am shocked just as you are at some of the things that have been written about my wife and I . It is sad that people would sit down and create these falsehoods and even spread them. At times i truly do wonder, it is so sad, shocking and wicked.
Me: So what really happened?
Akpabio : During the cause of my wife having our children, my wife had caesarian child deliveries. Well, what we didn't know was that for some reason there was a devastating surgical error. In sewing back my wife's womb, some surgeon sewed up her bowels to her skin. Not just in one place but in several places. My wife took ill. During investigation, doctors discovered this surgical blunder. We were all shocked, including the doctors.
The doctors have therefore had to conduct several surgical operations to detach and untangle my wife's bowels from her skin. It's been a terrible time for us and I have had to be there for her, that's why I travel to make sure she's ok.
It's therefore very hurtful when I read some of these wicked rumours on the internet. Some have even gone as far as saying the Igbos are after me and asking for their daughter back, none of this is true. People have sat down and created these stories - it's wicked. What's worse - the purveyors of these stories are a few disgruntled people from Akwa Ibom State.
These are people, who land at the airport I built in Akwa Ibom State. These are people who drive on the new roads I built in Akwa Ibom State - I challenge them to count the number of roads I built, they have lost count. These are people who sit in the new FIFA approved International stadium I built for the State. These are people who watched how I brought a State which was not reckoned within the comity of States in Nigeria and made it rank among the first 5 states in the country.
I recovered oil wells from Rivers, Cross River State and even discovered new oil fields between Nigeria and Equatorial Guniea; from number 3, Akwa Ibom became the no1 oil producing State in the country.
Do they not see or know these things? Is it the modern international hospital I built in Uyo? Have you seen one of the hospitals I built in Eastern Obolo? Do you know how many military and naval bases I established in Akwa Ibom State? Have they asked themselves why, not one oil pipeline in 8 yrs of my administration, was ever blown up or vandalised by militants? Do they not wonder why most Nigerians celebrate my achievements in Akwa Ibom State!? I am not boasting but I served my people well, I brought them up from being gatemen and house helps to a position of recognition and respect in this nation!
I shake my head and hope the hearts of these people will turn around.
That is the whole story my brother, please ignore the rumours. I am fully committed to Nigeria. I am committed to see this nation move forward, no matter how much I am persecuted, I will always love and support my beloved country.
Nigeria is all we've got, she is a great country, we all must get behind her
